(LogOut/ Nice of you to share! which get a few tweaks but dont change massively. The Necrons get a new fortification in the form of the Sentry Pylons these have made the move from the Heavy slot freeing up some precious Heavy choices for more Doomstalkers! It also has a much more sturdy defensive profile, and an improved version of the thermal jets rule for stuff it flies over. They now sit in the Heavy Support slot, and thus need to shine on their own merits. Astraeus! Notice it also isnt CORE, so maybe no rerolls for you in the future. The first is that the units in the Chaos Space Marine section reference the keyword, and where they do, they tell you to refer toCodex: Chaos Space Marines. Alright, onto the shared units, I guess. Though this does make it a little bit harder to read in the book, any future FAQ updates can be made in just one place, rather than risking some FW unit missing the change. Whats awesome is that they dropped from costing 900-1000 points down to only 600, so can actually be used (if you can stomach spending 3 CP for a superheavy auxiliary detachment and an additional 1 CP for Martial Legacy). Cerastus-Knight Lancer saw not only a 20 points drop, but also gained a souped up melee attack profile for when it charges. GW noticed that theGargantuan Squiggothhad no business being as cheap as it was, and have substantially hiked the price. https://www.youtube.com/live/huzAXt0Wlmg?feature=share #warhammercommunity #StreamingLive #PaintingWarhammer, Blood for the blood god!! The deathshroud cannons have also been augmented with Blast on both modes, and the big shots have also gone to flat damage two, while the inferno lance gains the new melta rule and is going to be able to deploy that straight out of deep strike. Ares Gunship: ARES-GATE continues, with a 20 point increase, and the attack changes from the Orion. Venatari, Dreads, and Aquilon come out looking pretty damn good with the new FW book. This seems a way of restricting those rare units and make sure the battlefield isnt flooded by them dont forget that this will have an impact on your free detachment, as the warlord only refunds the initial CP cost of them! Over the next few weeks, well be diving much deeper into these new rules and how they shake things up for each faction and make no mistake, theyshake things up in some pretty big ways. He did also get whats probably a downgrade in being declared a Terminator, but if you were planning on warping him in anyway its much of a muchness. The big greater daemon models are still neat, but you arent really going to field them. You can find out more about which cookies we are using or switch them off in settings. Drukhari only have two options, and theyre both kind of fine. They overly complicated old void shield rules have disappeared, now using the new rules we talked about for the Astraeus. They all picked up a substantial number of wounds, with a warhound now having 50 wounds and a warlord 120, but dropped in toughness, with the warlord the only titan at T9. The Thousand Sons appear to get nothing, which sucks. If any of them have game its probablyScabeiathrax, who benefits from having a whole bunch of nasty offensive options while being durable for their new cost. Ultimately, it does still get hard-countered by some flavours of hordes, and any game played with it is going to be a knife edge of making sure you dont get charged by a melee killing machine, but in a similar way to the Taunar in 8th I can see people picking it up and running it to 3-2 finishes or the occasional 4-1. Unsure, but in the meantime it is very much still a Land Raider, with all the problems that entails. The Warp Hunter is still way too expensive for how fragile it is, while the Nightwing gets a weird makeover from undercosted cheap option to trying to be a heavier flyer, and there just isnt a slot for what its doing. Solomon Lok never really saw play anyway, but Hector Rex was a popular choice because of how high you could juice him when you added a trait. We will be taking a look at some of these units in greater detail over the week once we have had a chance to crunch the numbers, but my initial reaction is positive here with some cool options for adding some fun units to bolster your Space Marine army. Innocuous but also undeniably winners we have Tetras, which trade out their one shot, three tokens markerlight for a markerlight that just has heavy 3, while going down 5pts each to boot. Someone at Forge World really loves drills. Right out the gate, theCarnodon gets a minor discount and some extra wounds nothing exciting, but nothing to sniff at either. Uraka, CorBax, and Mamon return, as well as some of the really big greater daemons. The Sentinel has historically been the better unit, but the Stalker is nowso cheap that I actually might give it the nod as the superior option just as a throwaway push unit. Thats seriously spicy, and since neither goes up in cost on that build and some of their guns get marginally better, these are a much more appealing option. The Night Shrouds bomb is still one use only, which is a little disappointing but thankfully gets a small points cut. Back at the launch of the 8th edition of Warhammer 40,000 we saw a series of volumes from Forge World collecting together all the rules for Forge World units in the new edition of the game. It got both cheaper and bump in firepower, making it an interesting option for someone who wants to go in on vehicles. A nice little boost overall. I never expected discontinued units to get rules in this book, its an unfortunate truth that we are only ever really going to get current tournament ready rules for models that Games Workshop still produce, however I am a little surprised that some units that you can still buy on the Forge World website do not get rules in this book that said, even with that small caveat there are an absolute truck load of units in this mighty tome! Someone out there was listening, because this was always the fix it needed. First and foremost are the Astra Militarum which also includes a new Regimental Doctrine for the Death Korps of Krieg. Also, R.I.P. Chaos codex trove The Air, Water, and Fire element types can carry the following effects. If youre going Krieg, its because you love the models or want to declare cavalry charges! Credit: Jack Hunter. All of the big tanks are surprisingly usable for their points and could easily be seen in an army if not for that 3 CP tax to take a superheavy auxiliary. With a big laser: cooler. Given how good Ghaz is that isnt a massive ask, and this guy importantlycan still takeDa Killa Klaw, has the right keyword to beDa Biggest Boss if you arent packing Ghaz, and has gained a point of toughness (T7!) A vindicator: cool. Warhammer 40k - Imperial Armour . This seems a really fun way of making Titans useable in a normal game, and Im looking forward to seeing how my titans fare as soon as we are able to film battles again! Sicarans in general also bumped up to a 2+ save, making them surprisingly durable, and took a substantial points cut. While it only has 32W, its got T9, a built in 4++ against shooting and the right keywords for Lightning Fast, making it extremely non-trivial to kill at range, especially if you stickFortune on it as well. The Adeptus Mechanicus get updated profiles for the Secutarii with rules keying off the new Titan Legion keyword that has been added for Titans. While not as inexpensive as it was at the end of 8th, if you can afford the 3 CP for a superheavy auxiliary detachment its totally usable. Our full review and unboxing is up over on www.spruesandbrews.com #warhammercommunity #warhammer #warcry #miniatures #miniaturespainting #soulblightgravelords #vampire #paintingwarhammer #painting #gamesworkshop, Our Sunday evening painting stream is live on YouTube and Twitch! [[2], This compendium includes 222 datasheets, including super-heavy units and highly specialised troops. Finally, the dark horse that I am hoping doesnt turn out to go anywhere of the units in this book with titan in their name, the Revenant Titan is probably closest to being decent in a Strike Force game. He is still the only leviathan remaining with WS and BS 2+, but even at his new lower points cost doesnt offer much. Is that a hint of changes to come? Why are there no pictures of the vehicles. The Malanthropewins because it gets to continue to exist, and is even slightly improved in exchange for a 15pt increase. Engineers are less exciting they lose their weird super shotguns and are basically kind of boring. Whirlwind Scorpius. They killed my DKOK, thanks a lot after buying a Gorgon. Finally the Tyranids have units with some updates such as the awesome looking Dimachaeron which not only has more wounds and a base 5+ inv save, but can also gain a 5+ wound shrug too if it kills something with its Spine Maw! Combined with the contents of the new Space Marines Codex you will be able to carry the torch for these under represented armies! On top of that, the -1 to hit these is now just always on, rather than only when they advance. The 9th Edition Imperial Armour Compendium was released on October 30, 2020. Really onlyStone-Crusher Carnifexeshere they cant be taken as broods any more and went up a bit in cost when they probably didnt need to. Credit: Jack Hunter. There are two wide-reaching rules for marines. (LogOut/ And add to that the fact that they now cost us CP and the same amount of points as the loyalist versions despite losing out on Legion Traits and Combat Doctrines and youve got a recipe for one salty Rob. Imperial Armour Compendium is an Imperial Armour book for the 9th Edition of Warhammer 40,000. Warhammer 40k - 8th Edition.pdf download. Thank You, Patrons. Definitely seem fine here, as you reduce the variance risk a lot. The book itself is split into 4 sections broadly following the split of the old Imperial Armour Indexes Forces of the Adeptus Astartes, Forces of the Imperium, Forces of Chaos and Forces of Xenos. We see some randomness removed in the Orks, especially with the Grot Tanks and Mega Tanks who now have a movement of 6+D6 rather than 2D6 making them a lot more reliable in regards to movement! Our latest podcast is now live with two fantastic interviews (post on the website appearing shortly) and we have filmed the first part of our first battle for our Crusade campaign! Venatari Custodians[ CORE]: Woo buddy, am I excited. The Imperial Armour books have also featured a few less well known successor chapters over the years, and Imperial Armour Compendium features suggested chapter tactics to best represent the way they fight I love this and gives players a framework towards designing their chapter to best fit the lore and narrative of the army as reflected in Warhammer 40k literature! Credits: That Gobbo. Most Ork vehicles that are tank-style, along with Mega and Meka dreads, gain the Ramshackle rule from Trukks, giving them a chance to reduce incoming damage to 1 on a roll of a 6. The Firepike is now 15 range, so a 3 boost which is neat. Cool, but nothing particularly good. This is a great change as I often felt some of the Forge World units had some very odd costings. document.getElementById( "ak_js_1" ).setAttribute( "value", ( new Date() ).getTime() ); This site uses Akismet to reduce spam. The good news is they might do OK at that up front, they are now a real psyker, getting access to smite and knowing one power from the Rune of Battle discipline. Previously this rule made you immune to battleshock from ranged weapons, meaning that the enemy had to kill you to a man if you wanted to shoot the Krieg off an objective. People are sad about the leviathan, but before the compendium he was approaching a Knight in points, had terrible rules, was more expensive than the loyalist version and his guns were average. Since you can double gun these, you definitely want to take this variant if youre planning on doing silly things withVisions in the Smoke, itsvastly better than the mainline one for that role. Caladius Grav-Tank: Lost the -2 to charge grav ability, kept fly. The Infernus puicks up a big functional improvement too, with its Inferno gun going up to 3d6 shots! Chaos Daemons get some welcome points adjustments, no longer have we got to have points values tied to the Gods holy numbers! Acanthrites also get a decent point cut to pay back their loss of BS, and definitely end up as a better unit out of it, even if I struggle to see myself ever taking them over more Skorpekh. These rules are better than what we used to have, and their costs do sit in a more realistic range than before, but paying 3 CP to take a greater daemon with no exalted abilities is weak sauce. The double shooting Spiculus if you didnt move ability moved to the weapon, so functionally the same, and gained the dread -1D ability. This also applies to the Chaos Titan Legions too, who essentially get the same datasheets but with suitably chaotic keywords! This 224-page hardback book provides you with all the datasheets and supporting rules you need to unleash the fury of your most powerful units in Warhammer 40,000. Now your mileage may vary if you only collect one army, but as I have multiple armies with a wide and varied range of Forge World models across them I much prefer having them all in the one book. Defensively, it gained 4 wounds so toughness 8, 14 wounds, and a 3+ save. Also the Adrathic option is slightly cheaper, so basically everything about Aquilon got better, except for the claw. Now it only ignores modifiers for Combat Attrition meaning it is still possible to force you off an objective from shooting. Thunderers go down quite a bit in points, but lose Grinding Advance. This makes the Exalted Daemons much easier to take in a game, and I cant wait to include them in lists again as they are some of my favourite models and deserve to be on the battlefield again! Out the gate as our first winner we have theHornet, because all the reasons they used to be good have pretty much stayed the same or improved. Also the shooting attack on the spear is up to flat 3 damage, from D3 damage. The laser volley cannon defaults to being a better lascannon three shots at D3+3 damage. [2], Warhammer Community: The Codex Show (posted 9/12/2020), Forge World Webstore: Imperial Armour Compendium, Warhammer Community: Inside Imperial Armour: Compendium (26/10/20), Vol. The Imperial Armour Compendium is available to pre-order from Friday. This works similarly to the Dreadclaw, but can carry up to 20 INFANTRY models instead, and mounts the equivalent of 10 missile launchers for some reason. Finally, in terms of really big mean things, the Hierophant is an actual unit you can kind of take now, down to 850pts instead of its previous, comical 2K price tag. Greater Blight Drones are also way better, especially in Death Guard, despite losing the damage on their weapons. Minotaurs Imperial Fists with Duellists and Stalwart chapter tactics. The Lynx also gets a substantial simplification and a cost reduction, and probably ends up more practical out of it. The other builds havent gone downas much as the HPL build, but with every build getting cheaper and a buff being applied to a unit that was already playable makes these the clearest, standout winner here. Join us on www.youtube.com/spruesbrews from 7pm - 9pm each Sunday! With the new edition of the game now out in the wild, Forge World have released a similar book this time containing the rules of nearly every unit they currently produce. The Dreadclaw Drop Pod and the Chaos Terrax Pattern Termite are the big winners here, both being nasty threats that help deliver Chaos Space Marines to the battlefield in interesting ways. Goonhammer Reads Science Fiction: Women! Sadly, the loss of the OG FW index habit of just slapping BS2+ on everything big hits Tau among the hardest. It changes a reasonable amount the weapon goes to D2 rather than D3but the Nova charge mode is now just a flat 9 shots per fun (so 18 total), it goes up to S7 when you Nova it, and the whole package has come down a cool 110pts. Thanks, guys. Coronus Grav-Carrier: 15 points cheaper, lost -2 to charge and kept fly (like the other grav vehicles). Today we see the new Imperial Armour Compendium up for pre order from Forge World! Putting aside the insult that they cost the same as their loyalist counterparts, lacking the HELBRUTE keyword is a big problem and the added CP cost to bring them makes them more of a liability than anything. Its much more interesting now with 6 shots in either standard or supercharge, at strength 8, ap-3, and 2 damage in standard mode, bumping up to strength 9 and damage 3 when supercharged. Krootcon Down Under Am I getting good at this? Legio Xestobiax Reaver Titan. In Lords of War land the Cobra and Scorpion also both got respectable point cuts and arebetter than they used to be, but probably still dont have a serious role in lists. Goonhammer and Stat Check are Teaming Up! While were going to dig into the highlights and lowlights of individual units below, our overall impression is that there was a significant smoothing over of the entire book. Next up, Im a bit more tentative on this but Ithink Shadow Spectres end up more attractive as a general pick than they used to be. These datasheets include. Agamatus Custodians [CORE]: No weapon or stat changes, but the base chassis is 5 points cheaper which is swell. (LogOut/ Sadly, the Seraptek construct is a loser, getting toned down in power on pretty much every axis and then goingup in points.Ive got nothing here this model is awesome and deserved better. #warhammercommunity #warhammer #warhammer40k #wargames #wargaming #tyranids #tyranid #gamesworkshop #citadel #citadelminiatures #hivetyrant #40k #warmongers #hobby #paintingwarhammer #painting #paintingminiatures #miniaturespainting #miniatures #90s, Busy day at Sprues & Brews HQ! If you disable this cookie, we will not be able to save your preferences. Already very good, the Terrax picks up several buffs that cement it as the premiere way to transport firstborn marines. That makes them kind of losers overall. It retains the CORE keyword, and if you arm it with a kheres assault cannon or multimelta and dreadnought close combat weapon it costs the same as the codex version (well, and an extra 1 CP cost.). Hes armed with a heavy plasma cannon and dreadnought close combat weapon, and only costs 20 points more than an equivalently armed relic contemptor. What stats do the turbolaser have? At that point, slap an ATS on it and the main guns are straight up better heavy burst cannons on a chassis thats tougher than a Riptide, so while you do trade off a bit of flexibility, its at least a usable option. Still immunity to melta extra damage? In the same way as Space Marines, the Traitors also have to spend an additional CP if they want to take a Martial Legacy unit. Both options are now a pretty substantial firepower boost. Grav tanks and the Ares. Whether you want to reclaim the galaxy with the Necrons, burn it to a cinder with the Chaos Space Marines, or convince everyone to join the Greater Good with the T'au Empire, this book contains the datasheets and the points values you need.. Look, theres atonof content to cover here and weve barely scratched the surface. Sagittarum Guard [CORE] : Same points, but apparently the bolter half of their gun was a heavy bolter, because now it is 2 damage. TheMeka-Dread andMega-Dread both get quite a lot cheaper and that definitely works in their favour they dont have as many weird and wonderful options, but their defensive profile is just way more proportionate to their price if you feel like taking them. Stillprobably not durable enough for how hard it is to hide and the cost, but much, much closer to something you want. Falchion/Fellblade As an unapologetic lover of all forms of BIG TANKs, I had to take a look at these too. Any weapons that Forgeworld doesnt currently make in 28mm are gone, so goodbye to reaver chainfists and carapace weapons that arent the apocalypse missile launcher and warlord carapace weapons that arent apocalypse launchers or laser blasters. The basic and command squad variants go up to three wounds a pop with a 5+ FNP for 15pts each, and get slightly improved in melee from their previous incarnation, with their mounts getting a point of AP on their attacks. We see quite a few units get tweaked to remove degrading profiles too, such as on the Blood Slaughterer. 44.3M . Credit: CrabStuffedMushrooms. They also, while alive, provide a 5+ invulnerable save. This tank was utter garbage ever since it released, being essentially a bunch of plasma guns that could overheat to have fewer shots.
